This week, Project CRYSTAL students prepared samples of their expressions to run on an SDS-PAGE gel next week. When they run their samples, they will be able to check to see if their protein expressed and if it is soluble. The students learned how to sonicate their E.coli cells in order to break open the cells, and also learned how to use Ni-affinity purification in order to purify their protein from other native E.coli proteins.
